ChipFlow is moving to Spain
ChipFlow is excited to announce a relocation to Spain.
This move will position ChipFlow at the heart of the European semiconductor ecosystem, unlocking new opportunities for growth, talent development, funding and collaboration.
Why Spain?
When ChipFlow received the Seal of Excellence from the European Innovation Council (EIC), it was recommended to ChipFlow that moving to the EU side would help to build closer ties. ChipFlow has for years acted at the core of European open source EDA circles with the leading universities & research centers so it was a very natural move when it became apparent that EU chips act grant eligibility would benefit from the move.
Spain represents a vibrant talent base and increasing investments by Semiconductor companies led by imec. Since the summer of 2024, we have worked with Invest in Spain (ICEX España) to create a Chipflow plan for Spain entry. A special thank you must go to Raluca Toma without her we would not be as far as we are today with our move. There are many to thank in the process but we must at least acknowledge the following; Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Spanish Association of Semiconductor Industry (AESEMI) for their support.
Growing Our Team and Capabilities
ChipFlow is a remote-first company with 15 employees, split between the UK and Continental Europe. As we continue to expand and drive the commercialization of open-source EDA tool design enablement, Spain will now be our focus point for team growth supported by the EU Chips Act grants focused on open source EDA tooling and design platforms. We are happy to announce that we have already hired our first engineer in Spain!
Building the Future of Integrated Circuit (IC) Design
In Spain, we aim to hire IC designers with existing IC skills but also non-IC software talent who we’ll develop into IC designers through working with our Python based platform. Our recruitment efforts align closely with that of the wider Spanish semiconductor growth strategy, and we’re excited to play a part in shaping the industry. We hope that our EDA design flow platform will help many interested people in IC design to start their journey to learn the secrets of IC design.
